How Network Marketing Lead Generation Can Save Your Life

network marketing lead generationI just finished reading an article about why you have to quit your job this year. It made a lot of sense to me.

The author gives lots of reasons why this is the year to become an entrepreneur, things like corporations don’t like you, money is not happiness, and the middle class is dead.

His most convincing argument to me, however, was when he said, “Count how many people can ruin your life with one decision.” Think about it. Bosses, buyers, publishers . . .

For many people, network marketing provides a perfect solution. It’s relatively inexpensive to get involved, and you get out of it exactly what you put into it.

To be really successful at network marketing, or MLM, you have to know about network marketing lead generation. This is just another way of saying, “Finding people to talk to about your business.

Fortunately, there are many methods of generating leads for your network marketing business. You’d be wise to use a combination of these. Once you find one you feel most comfortable doing, you’ll probably stick with that.

Network Marketing Lead Generation Tip #1: Belly to Belly

For some people, network marketing lead generation simply means going out and finding somebody to talk to. This is called the “belly to belly” approach, because you’re talking face to face with a live human being.

Many online marketer denounce this approach as being “old school,” but lots of marketers have built huge businesses this way. How do you do it?

Simple. Just find people to talk to. Go to networking events, trade shows, or take some classes on subjects you find interesting.

I find this approach to network marketing lead generation works best for me when I’m talking with people who have similar interests. Why is this?

Well, I’m more comfortable around them, for one. And, since it’s been established that we have at least one thing in common, we can build from there.

Here’s an example. If you take a class about how to levitate by meditating, chances are you’re going to meet other people with similar interests. You’ve probably read the same books as many of these people, thought the same kinds of thoughts, and have similar goals. It shouldn’t be too difficult to strike up a conversation before or after class.

So, if you’re using this method of network marketing lead generation, what do you say, exactly, to get them to take a look at your business?

Well, before you do that, you have to discover if this person has a need. I mean, if she’s independently wealthy or super-focused on her career, it’s pointless trying to convince her how network marketing can help her.

In fact, it’s useless, using this or any other method of network marketing lead generation, to try to convince people of anything. If it feels like you’re trying to convince, you’re doing it wrong.

Here’s how I do it. If I’m talking to someone I think might be a good MLM prospect, eventually the subject of what we do for a living will come up.

If the person I’m talking to shows the slightest dissatisfaction with his/her job, and most do, I’ll say something like, “Would you be open to taking a look at what I’m doing?”

That’s it, really. If they say yes, I usually get their contact information and call them at a later time. If they say no, I drop it.

Network Marketing Lead Generation Tip #2: Call’em Up

Another method of network marketing lead generation that some people find effective is buying leads. Now, I realize this is not technically “lead generation,” in that you’re buying leads somebody else generated, but it’s still an effective way to reach sometimes targeted people.

There are several scripts you can find online and elsewhere that will help you know what to say when you’re talking to prospects over the phone. It’s really simple, though.

You see, your goal with that first call is to qualify or disqualify the prospect. To be honest, however, if you use this way of network marketing lead generation, you can only expect about twenty percent of the people you dial to even answer the phone.

To those who do answer, you’ll want to say something like, “Hi. This is John Smith calling from Chicago, and I was calling because you had been on one of my websites looking for information about working from home. Are you still looking to do that?”

Again, this is very simple. If they say no, get off the phone and stop wasting your time. If they say yes, ask them a few more qualifying questions, and then send them to your website, or get a DVD in their hands, or whatever other method your company uses.

Network Marketing Lead Generation Tip #3:  The Funded Proposal

Still another method of network marketing lead generation, and the one I find most effective, is called a funded proposal. This just means that you lead with a low cost product, typically an ebook, and promote your primary company on the backend.

This way you get paid even when nobody joins your business. This is especially helpful in retaining team members, as they will see cash generated almost immediately when promoting these funded proposals.

Two of the biggest and best funded proposals out there are Magnetic Sponsoring and the Renegade Network Marketer. Using both these programs, I’ve been able to generate, not only a ton of leads, but a lot of money. I highly recommend both.
